The majority of file sharing or CDE (Common Data Environment) software platforms use Files to store information with metadata containers (ref, description, revision, status, upload date etc) to store information about the files.
The EDocuments platform it is primarily designed as a "data first" system with file management capabilities.
"Data first" means that data is shared across many documents and views e.g. Asset Registers , PPM Maintenance Schedules, Literature Summaries. Data can also be connected and linked to other databases and 3D models via APIs.
